Amal Chaudhuri was a beloved Dad, Father-in-Law, Brother, Uncle and Friend, as well as a valued Rotarian, member and former Chairman of the Tagore Centre UK and life member of the Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission UK Centre. In his professional life, he trained in medicine in India and the UK and worked as a senior hospital consultant in the NHS.
He loved adda (Bengali for chatting) with his friends about politics, culture and society. He also had a love of Bengali sweets and snacks! He was a very sociable person, good-spirited and active, often organising cultural and charity fund-raising events. In his retirement, he frequently travelled to far-flung parts of the world and, having stepped down from medicine, turned his attention to the arts, researching and giving talks on the cultural movement known as the Bengal Renaissance.
Friends and colleagues are welcome to join us to remember him and celebrate his life.
There is no need to rsvp for the funeral service at City of London Crematorium at 12 midday. However, if guests would also like to attend the Hindu rituals at 10.30am and/or the reception at 1.15pm, it would be helpful if they could email Amal’s son-in-law at oliver@olivercraske.com, as we'll be arranging transport between these venues and space is limited for the rituals.
Help grow Amal's Tribute by adding messages or memories you'd like to share.
